I. Mechanical derusting methods

 

Sandblasting derusting

Principle: Use compressed air to spray sand grains at high speed onto the steel plate surface. Through the impact and friction of sand grains, remove rust, oxide scale and other impurities on the steel plate surface.

Advantages: Good derusting effect. It can make the steel plate surface obtain a certain roughness and enhance the adhesion of the anti-corrosion coating. High processing efficiency, suitable for derusting large-area steel plates.

Disadvantages: Special equipment and site are required. The generated dust causes certain pollution to the environment. For steel plate parts with complex shapes, it may not be treated thoroughly.

Shot blasting derusting

Principle: Use a shot blasting machine to throw steel shots at high speed onto the steel plate surface to achieve the purpose of derusting. After hitting the steel plate surface, the steel shots will rebound and form a recycling use.

Advantages: High derusting efficiency. Automated operation can be realized. It can remove thick rust and oxide scale and at the same time make the steel plate surface produce uniform roughness.

Disadvantages: Large equipment investment. There are certain requirements for the quality and particle size of steel shots. It may also not handle parts with complex shapes well.

Manual and power tool derusting

Principle: Use tools such as wire brushes, grinding wheels, and emery cloth to grind and derust the steel plate surface by manual or mechanical power.

Advantages: Flexible operation. Suitable for derusting small areas or parts with complex shapes. Simple equipment and low cost.
