The following are specific measures to improve the corrosion resistance of LR EH55 steel plate in marine environments:

 

Surface Coating Protection

 

Anticorrosive Paint Coating: Use specialized marine anticorrosive paints, such as epoxy zinc-rich primer and polyurethane topcoat. The epoxy zinc-rich primer contains a large amount of zinc powder. In the marine environment, zinc is more reactive than iron and will corrode preferentially, thus providing cathodic protection for the steel plate. The polyurethane topcoat has good weather resistance and water resistance, which can effectively block the contact between corrosive media such as seawater and oxygen and the steel plate.

 

 

Electrochemical Protection

 

Sacrificial Anode Cathodic Protection Method: Install metals that are more reactive than iron, such as zinc blocks and aluminum blocks, on the surface of the LR EH55 steel plate as sacrificial anodes. In seawater, the sacrificial anodes will corrode preferentially, and through electrochemical action, electrons will be transferred to the steel plate, reducing its potential and thus slowing down the corrosion rate of the steel plate.

Surface Treatment

 

 

Chemical Treatment: Conduct phosphating treatment or passivation treatment. Phosphating treatment can form a phosphate conversion film on the surface of the steel plate, improving the adhesion and corrosion resistance of the coating. Passivation treatment uses chemical reagents to form a dense oxide film on the surface of the steel plate to enhance its corrosion resistance.

 

Optimal Design and Maintenance

 

 

Regular Inspection and Maintenance: Regularly inspect the ship structures using LR EH55 steel plates to timely detect problems such as coating damage and corrosion pits, and repair or replace damaged components.
