Inspection and Maintenance of Auxiliary Equipment

Wire Feeding Mechanism (for Automatic or Semi-automatic Welding)

Wire Feeding Wheel Inspection:
Check the wear condition of the wire feeding wheel. If the tooth shape of the wire feeding wheel is severely worn, it will cause the welding wire to slip during feeding. For example, in gas metal arc welding, uneven wire feeding speed will cause inconsistent melting speeds of the welding wire, resulting in uneven heat input. Generally, the wire feeding wheel needs to be replaced after being used for a certain period of time (such as when the cumulative wire feeding length reaches several kilometers).
Ensure that the pressure of the wire feeding wheel is appropriate. If the pressure is too high, it will deform the welding wire and affect the smoothness of wire feeding; if the pressure is too low, it will cause the wire to slip. Different diameters of welding wires require different wire feeding wheel pressures. For example, for a welding wire with a diameter of 0.8mm, the wire feeding wheel pressure is generally between 10 - 15N.

Welding Wire Conduit Inspection:
Check whether the welding wire conduit is unobstructed. If there are debris blocking the inside of the conduit or the bending radius is too small, it will hinder the normal feeding of the welding wire, resulting in uneven melting of the welding wire and affecting the uniformity of heat input. Regularly clean the inside of the conduit, and when installing the conduit, ensure that the bent part meets the requirements and avoid excessive bending.

Gas Flow Control Device (for Gas Shielded Welding)

Flowmeter Inspection:
Regularly calibrate the gas flowmeter. Gas flow has an important impact on the uniformity of heat input during the welding process. For example, in carbon dioxide gas shielded welding, the appropriate gas flow is generally between 10 - 25L/min. If the gas flow is too large or too small, it will change the shape and stability of the arc, thus affecting the uniform distribution of heat. Use standard flow calibration equipment to ensure the accuracy of the flowmeter readings.
Check whether the connection between the flowmeter and the gas pipe is tight. If there is a leak, it will lead to insufficient actual protective gas flow, resulting in poor protection effect in the welding area, decreased arc stability, and then cause uneven heat input.

Cooling System (for High-power Welding Equipment or Continuous Welding Equipment)

Coolant Inspection:
Check whether the coolant level in the cooling system is within the normal range. If the coolant is insufficient, the welding equipment (such as the welding transformer, welding gun, etc.) cannot be effectively cooled during long-term operation, which will lead to excessive equipment temperature. Excessive temperature will affect the performance of the equipment. For example, it will make the output power of the welding power source unstable and ultimately cause uneven heat input. Regularly replenish the coolant and replace the coolant according to the requirements of the equipment manual.
Check whether the coolant circulation system is working normally. This includes checking whether the cooling pump is operating normally and whether there are blockages or leaks in the pipes. If the cooling circulation is not smooth, it will also cause abnormal equipment temperature and affect the uniformity of heat input.
