I. Heat - treatment Process
Quenching Treatment
Quenching is a heat - treatment process in which NV F460 steel plate is heated above the critical temperature, held for a certain period of time, and then rapidly cooled. This process enables the steel to obtain a martensite structure. Martensite is a supersaturated solid solution with high hardness and strength. During the quenching process, due to the extremely fast cooling rate, carbon atoms do not have time to diffuse, thus forming high - carbon martensite, and its yield strength is significantly higher than that of the original structure. For example, after appropriate quenching treatment, the yield strength of NV F460 steel plate can be increased from the original 460MPa to more than 600MPa.

 

Tempering Treatment
Tempering is generally a heat - treatment process carried out after quenching. Its purpose is to eliminate quenching stress, stabilize the structure, and also adjust the strength and toughness of the steel to a certain extent. During the tempering process, the martensite structure will decompose and some carbides will precipitate, reducing the strength of the steel but improving the toughness. By controlling the tempering temperature and time, the yield strength of NV F460 steel plate can reach an appropriate range. For example, when tempering at a lower temperature (such as 300 - 400℃), the decrease in yield strength is relatively small, and the toughness of the steel can also be improved.

 

Normalizing Treatment
Normalizing is a heat - treatment method in which NV F460 steel plate is heated above the critical temperature, held for an appropriate period of time, and then cooled in air. The structure after normalizing is finer than that after annealing, and the pearlite lamellar spacing is smaller. This structure state can increase the yield strength of the steel. Normalizing treatment can refine the grains and improve the comprehensive mechanical properties of the steel. II. Environmental Factors
Temperature
When NV F460 steel plate is in a low - temperature environment, its yield strength will increase and its toughness will decrease. This is because low temperature will weaken the thermal motion of atoms in the steel and increase the resistance to dislocation movement. For example, in an environment of - 20℃, the yield strength of NV F460 steel plate may be about 5 - 10% higher than that at room temperature. On the contrary, in a high - temperature environment, the thermal motion of atoms intensifies and the movement of dislocations becomes easier, and the yield strength will decrease. When the temperature reaches above 400℃, the yield strength may decrease significantly, which is an important consideration factor for steel plate structures used in high - temperature environments.

 

Corrosion Environment
If NV F460 steel plate is in a corrosive environment, such as a marine environment or a chemical environment, the surface will corrode. Corrosion will lead to the formation of corrosion pits on the surface of the steel plate, and these corrosion pits will cause stress concentration. Under the action of stress concentration, the actual yield strength of the steel plate will decrease. For example, in a marine environment, the yield strength of NV F460 steel plate that has been corroded by seawater for a long time may be reduced by about 10 - 20MPa due to the presence of corrosion pits, and this reduction will become more obvious as the corrosion time prolongs.
