The hardness testing methods for high-strength shipbuilding steel plates mainly include the following: Rockwell hardness test.
Testing principle:
Use a conical diamond indenter or a steel ball indenter. First apply an initial test force, then apply a main test force, and then remove the main test force and measure the depth of the residual indentation.
Calculate the Rockwell hardness value according to the depth of the residual indentation. Different combinations of indenters and test forces correspond to different Rockwell hardness scales, such as HRC, HRB, etc.
