S32652 (654SMo): A 6Mo-Type Super Austenitic Stainless Steel

1. Material Overview

S32652, also known as 654SMo, is a 6Mo-type super austenitic stainless steel renowned for its exceptional corrosion resistance. It contains high proportions of alloying elements (Cr, Ni, Mo, and N), enabling superior performance in aggressive media, including chloride environments, sulfuric acid, hydrofluoric acid, and other harsh corrosive conditions.

 

Corrosion Resistance

Localized Corrosion: Exhibits excellent resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion, with a pitting corrosion resistance equivalent (PREN) ≥42 (calculated as PREN = Cr + 3.3Mo + 16N), surpassing many standard stainless steels.

SCC Resistance: Highly resistant to chloride-induced stress corrosion cracking, making it suitable for seawater and brine applications.

Acid Resistance: Performs well in sulfuric and phosphoric acids, as well as mixed acid environments.

Test Standards: Compliance with ASTM A262 (intergranular corrosion), ASTM G48 (pitting test), and NACE TM0177 (SCC evaluation).
