The processing technology for GH3030 steel plates involves several key steps to ensure optimal performance, as detailed below:

1. Smelting

Primary Smelting: Typically processed by vacuum induction melting (VIM) to control chemical composition precisely, reduce gas content (such as O, N, H), and minimize impurities. This step ensures the alloy's purity and uniformity.

Secondary Refining: For higher-quality requirements, electroslag remelting (ESR) or vacuum arc remelting (VAR) may be used to further purify the ingot, eliminate segregation, and improve the microstructure, resulting in better mechanical properties.

2. Hot Rolling

Heating: The ingot is heated to a temperature range of 1100–1180°C (depending on specific process standards) to ensure sufficient plasticity. The heating process is controlled to avoid overheating, which could cause grain coarsening.

Rolling: Hot rolling is performed at temperatures above the recrystallization temperature (usually 950–1150°C) to reduce the ingot into plates of intermediate thickness. Multiple passes are used, with controlled rolling parameters (e.g., rolling speed, reduction ratio) to refine grains and improve uniformity.
