Heat Treatment

The performance of GH4169 plate is significantly regulated by heat treatment, typically involving:

 

Solution Annealing: Heating to 950–1050°C, holding, and rapid cooling (water quenching) to dissolve alloying elements uniformly.

Aging Treatment: Two-stage aging (e.g., 720°C for 8 hours + 620°C for 8 hours) to precipitate fine γ'' (Ni₃Nb) and γ' (Ni₃(Al,Ti)) phases, which are the main strengthening phases.

Processing Characteristics

Machinability: Can be processed by turning, milling, and drilling, but due to its high hardness and work-hardening tendency, high-speed steel or cemented carbide tools are recommended.

Weldability: Suitable for TIG (tungsten inert gas) welding and electron beam welding, with preheating and post-weld heat treatment to reduce residual stress.

Formability: Cold forming (e.g., rolling, bending) is feasible at room temperature, and hot forming can be performed at 900–1000°C for complex shapes.
