C10/C10E Steel

C10E is a type of European standard carbon steel, also known as EN1.1121. Its chemical composition mainly consists of carbon (C), manganese (Mn), sulfur (S), phosphorus (P), and so on. The carbon content is between 0.07-0.13%, the manganese content is between 0.3-0.6%, and the sulfur and phosphorus content is both below 0.035%, with the remaining component being iron (Fe).

The tensile strength of C10E carbon steel is around 420MPa, the yield strength is around 250MPa, and the fracture elongation rate is above 33%. Its primary application is for manufacturing low-load mechanical components, gear, nuts, bearings, and so on. This carbon steel can be processed and quenched and tempered to further improve its hardness and strength.

C10E carbon steel has the advantages of high strength, easy processing, and heat treatment, and the price is relatively low. However, it has the disadvantages of poor corrosion resistance, easily becoming rusty, and being brittle and prone to fracture in acidic environments.

The most common forms of C10E carbon steel include rods, round steel, flat steel, and so on. Each country has different designations for this material, such as being equivalent to America's 1010, China's 10# steel, Japan's S10C, and so on.

In summary, C10E carbon steel possesses good hardness and strength, is easy to process and heat treat, and is primarily used for manufacturing low-load mechanical components, gear, nuts, bearings, and so on. However, it is necessary to be aware of its shortcomings related to poor corrosion resistance, rusty tendency, and being brittle and prone to fracture in acidic environments.
