AH32 and AH36 are high-strength marine steel plates certified by the China Classification Society (CCS) mainly used in shipbuilding. Their production standards involve the following aspects:
Quality Grades and Flaw Detection Requirements:
Quality Grades: According to factors such as the purity of the steel and the content of inclusions, they are divided into different quality grades such as A, B, D, E, etc. Different quality grade steel plates are suitable for different ship parts and usage environments.
Flaw Detection Requirements: Flaw detection is required to ensure there are no obvious defects inside, such as cracks and inclusions. Commonly used flaw detection methods include ultrasonic flaw detection and radiographic flaw detection. The flaw detection grade is determined according to the use and requirements of the steel plate, and is generally divided into different grades such as first-level detection, second-level detection, and third-level detection.

Z-direction Performance Requirements (Optional): When the steel plate thickness is not less than 40 mm and is subject to tensile force along the plate thickness direction, in order to avoid lamellar tearing during welding, steel plates with good Z-direction performance, i.e., anti-lamellar tearing steel, need to be used. This kind of steel plate has a lower sulfur content and a higher cross-sectional shrinkage rate. The Z-direction performance is usually obtained through specimen tensile tests and is measured by the cross-sectional shrinkage rate. Common Z-direction performance grades include Z15, Z25, and Z35.
Other Requirements: The surface quality of the steel plate should be good without obvious scratches, dents, rust and other defects. Moreover, the steel plate should have good welding performance and cold forming performance to meet various processing requirements in the shipbuilding process.
