Strict Control of Melting Operations:
During the melting process, precisely control the temperature and time. Appropriate melting temperature can make impurities float or precipitate sufficiently, facilitating their removal. For example, within a certain temperature range (such as 1500 - 1600℃), the solubility of sulfur in the molten iron will change. By controlling the temperature, sulfur can be promoted to float to the slag in the form of sulfide. At the same time, it's important to control the melting time. Excessively long melting time may lead to the erosion of the furnace lining material, increasing the risk of impurity introduction, while too short a time may result in insufficient impurity removal.
Conduct sufficient stirring operations. Through electromagnetic stirring or gas - stirred methods, make the internal components of the molten iron uniform, enabling impurities to have better contact with the slag, thus improving the impurity removal efficiency. For example, gas - stirred operations can make the tiny inclusions in the molten iron collide and agglomerate, making them more easily adsorbed by the slag.

Refining Treatment Measures

Apply Effective Refining Methods:
Secondary refining outside the furnace is a crucial step to reduce impurities. For example, during the refining process in a ladle furnace (LF), appropriate refining slag can be added to adsorb sulfur, oxygen and other impurities in the molten iron. The refining slag usually contains components such as lime (CaO) and fluorite (CaF₂), which can chemically react with impurities and fix the impurities in the slag.
Adopt a vacuum degassing device for refining. This device can effectively reduce the hydrogen content in the molten iron. Hydrogen may cause defects such as flake cracks in the steel plate, seriously affecting its toughness. In a vacuum environment, hydrogen will escape from the molten iron, thereby improving the quality of the molten iron.
