Products Description

Specific Application Example: For CCS A620 steel, the quenching temperature can be determined according to its specific chemical composition, size and other factors. Generally, it is between 850 - 950 °C. The holding time may be about 30 - 60 minutes, and then it is rapidly cooled in water or oil. The tempering temperature can be selected between 150 - 650 °C. Different tempering temperatures will result in different performance combinations. For instance, when tempered at around 200 °C, relatively high hardness and good wear resistance can be obtained; when tempered at around 600 °C, the toughness of the material will be significantly improved.

Cold Working Strengthening
Cold Rolling
Principle Explanation: Cold rolling is a processing method in which steel is rolled at room temperature. During the cold rolling process, the steel is subjected to the pressure of the rolls, its cross-sectional size decreases, and its length increases. This deformation will cause the grains inside the steel to be elongated and broken along the rolling direction, generating a large number of dislocations. As the dislocation density increases, the interaction between dislocations is enhanced, making it difficult for dislocations to move, thus improving the strength and hardness of the steel. Meanwhile, cold rolling can also improve the surface quality and dimensional accuracy of the steel.
Specific Application Example: Taking CCS A620 steel sheets as an example, cold rolling can roll the original sheets with larger thickness into the required thin sheet specifications. During the cold rolling process, the reduction per pass is generally about 10% - 30%. As the cold rolling deformation increases, the yield strength and tensile strength of the steel will be significantly increased. For example, after about 50% cold rolling deformation, the yield strength may be increased from about 300 MPa to more than 500 MPa, but at the same time, the toughness of the material will decrease. Therefore, the cold rolling deformation degree needs to be controlled according to specific usage requirements.

Cold Drawing
Principle Explanation: Cold drawing is a cold working method in which steel is drawn through a drawing die to reduce its cross-section and increase its length. During the cold drawing process, the steel is subjected to the axial tensile force and undergoes plastic deformation. Similar to cold rolling, cold drawing will also cause the grains inside the steel to deform and the dislocation density to increase, thereby improving the strength of the steel. Moreover, cold drawing can also make the steel have higher dimensional accuracy and better surface quality. It is often used in the production of high-precision steel wires, steel pipes and other products.
Specific Application Example: For the production of CCS A620 steel wires, the cold drawing process can start from the original wire rods with larger diameters. For example, starting from a wire rod with a diameter of 6 mm for cold drawing, through multiple drawing operations, the diameter reduction of each drawing is about 0.5 - 1.5 mm, and finally, steel wires with smaller diameters can be obtained. As the cold drawing deformation increases, the strength of the steel wire will continue to increase. After several drawing operations, the tensile strength of the steel wire may be increased from about 400 MPa to more than 800 MPa. It is mainly used for manufacturing products such as wire ropes and springs that require relatively high strength.

Surface Strengthening Treatment
Surface Quenching
Principle Explanation: Surface quenching is a heat treatment method that only quenches the surface of the steel. By rapidly heating the surface of the steel to the quenching temperature and then rapidly cooling it, a martensite structure is formed on the surface layer, while the core still maintains its original microstructure. In this way, the surface hardness and wear resistance can be improved while maintaining good toughness in the core. There are various heating methods for surface quenching, such as induction heating and flame heating. Induction heating uses the principle of electromagnetic induction to generate an induced current on the surface of the steel to rapidly heat the surface; flame heating uses an oxygen-acetylene flame or other means to directly heat the surface of the steel.
Specific Application Example: When processing CCS A620 steel shaft parts, if the surface of the shaft is required to have high hardness and wear resistance while the core maintains sufficient toughness to bear torque and other loads, surface quenching can be adopted. For example, when using induction heating surface quenching, the frequency can be selected according to the size of the shaft and the requirements for the quenching depth, generally between 2000 - 10000 Hz. After quenching, the surface hardness can reach about HRC 50 - 60, while the core still maintains relatively low hardness and good toughness, effectively improving the service life of the shaft.

Chemical Heat Treatment
Principle Explanation: Chemical heat treatment is a process in which steel is placed in a medium containing specific elements. By heating, the active atoms in the medium penetrate into the surface of the steel to form a layer with special properties. For example, carburizing is to heat low-carbon steel in a carbon-rich medium to make carbon atoms penetrate into the surface of the steel to form a high-carbon carburized layer. The carbon in the carburized layer combines with iron in the steel to form carbides, and these carbides can improve the surface hardness and wear resistance. Nitriding is to make nitrogen atoms penetrate into the surface of the steel to form a nitride layer.
