Influence of the Original Microstructure State: The original microstructure state of KA36 steel (such as grain size, presence of residual stress, etc.) will affect the selection of aging process parameters. If the original grains are fine, during the aging process, the distribution of the precipitated phase may be more uniform, and at this time, the aging temperature can be appropriately reduced or the aging time can be shortened. On the contrary, if the original grains are coarse, more stringent aging conditions (such as appropriately increasing the temperature and extending the time) may be required to ensure that the precipitated phase can effectively impede dislocation movement. For example, for KA36 steel with refined grains, a good performance improvement can be achieved by aging at 150 °C for 16 hours; while for materials with coarse original grains, it may be necessary to age at 200 °C for 20 hours.

 

Influence of Composition Differences: The alloy element composition in KA36 steel also has an important impact on the aging process. Different alloy elements have different behaviors during the aging process. For example, if the steel contains elements that can form stable carbides or nitrides (such as niobium, titanium, etc.), these elements will preferentially form fine precipitated phases during the aging process, enhancing the aging strengthening effect. For KA36 steel containing more of these elements, the aging temperature and time can be appropriately adjusted to make better use of the strengthening effect of these elements. If the alloy element content is low, more precise control of the aging conditions may be required to achieve the desired performance.

Optimization of Process Parameters in Combination with Actual Application Requirements

 

Performance Emphasis in Different Application Scenarios: If KA36 steel is mainly used for structural parts that bear large static loads (such as certain key support parts of ships), then in the selection of the aging process, more emphasis should be placed on increasing the yield strength and tensile strength. At this time, a higher temperature (such as 220 - 250 °C) and a longer aging time (such as 18 - 24 hours) can be selected within the appropriate temperature range to ensure that the material has sufficient strength to bear the load. If the material is used for parts that require a certain toughness and impact resistance (such as the anti - collision structure of ships), attention should be paid to controlling the aging temperature and time to avoid excessive reduction in toughness. A lower temperature (such as 150 - 180 °C) and a shorter time (such as 8 - 12 hours) can be selected to maintain good toughness while ensuring a certain strength improvement.

 

Consideration of Processing Cost and Efficiency: When selecting aging process parameters, processing cost and efficiency also need to be considered. A higher aging temperature and a longer aging time may increase energy consumption and production cycle. Therefore, a balance needs to be struck between performance improvement and cost - efficiency. For example, on the premise of meeting the performance requirements, try to select a combination of a lower temperature and a shorter time to reduce production costs and improve production efficiency.
