The production standards for LR Marine Steel Plate Grade D mainly include the following aspects:
Chemical composition requirements:
Carbon (C): The content is usually not more than 0.21%. The control of carbon content has an important influence on the strength, toughness and welding performance of steel. A lower carbon content helps improve the toughness and weldability of steel.
Silicon (Si): Generally not more than 0.35%. Silicon element can improve the strength and hardness of steel, but excessive silicon will reduce the toughness and welding performance of steel.
Manganese (Mn): The content is between 0.60% - 1.20%. Manganese element can improve the strength and toughness of steel, and at the same time can improve the hardenability and heat treatment performance of steel.
Phosphorus (P): The content is not more than 0.035%. Phosphorus is a harmful element that will reduce the toughness and welding performance of steel, so its content needs to be strictly controlled.
Sulfur (S): The content is not more than 0.035%. Sulfur element will cause hot brittleness of steel and reduce the toughness and machinability of steel, so its content also needs to be strictly controlled.
Aluminum (Als): The content is not less than 0.015%. Aluminum element can form a dense oxide film on the surface of steel, improving the corrosion resistance and oxidation resistance of steel. For D-grade steel with a thickness greater than 25mm, the total aluminum content can be determined instead of the acid-soluble aluminum content. At this time, the total aluminum content should not be less than 0.020%.
Size and shape requirements:
Thickness: Generally, the thickness of the produced steel plate is between 3mm - 300mm.
Width: Generally 1200mm - 4200mm.
Length: The common length range is 3000mm - 18000mm.
Flatness: The flatness of the steel plate should meet the requirements of relevant standards to ensure smooth processing and welding during use.
Edge quality: The edges of the steel plate should be neat, without burrs, cracks and other defects to ensure the welding quality and structural safety.
Certification and inspection requirements:
Classification society certification: The steel plate needs to be certified by Lloyd's Register (LR) classification society to ensure that it meets the relevant standards and requirements for shipbuilding.
Inspection certificate: The manufacturer should provide the original factory inspection certificate in accordance with EN 10204 format 3.1/3.2 to prove the quality and performance of the steel plate.
Additional inspection: According to user needs, additional inspections such as ultrasonic inspection and Z-direction performance testing may also be required.
