Dispersion Strengthening

Principle: Similar to precipitation strengthening, dispersion strengthening improves strength by introducing fine, dispersed second - phase particles into the steel matrix to impede the movement of dislocations. The difference is that the second - phase particles for dispersion strengthening are usually added through powder metallurgy and other methods, and there is generally no coherent relationship between these particles and the matrix. This strengthening method can improve strength and also maintain relatively good toughness through reasonable particle distribution and size control.

Methods: In the powder metallurgy process, the metal powder and the dispersed - phase particles are uniformly mixed, and then the steel is made through pressing, sintering and other processes. Principle: The texture of steel refers to the preferred orientation of grains in space. For example, in some plate - processing, the formation of a suitable {111} - plane texture can improve the deep - drawing performance of the plate and also improve strength and toughness to a certain extent. This is because the atomic arrangement of the {111} - plane enables better coordination of dislocation movement during deformation and reduces stress concentration.

Methods: Appropriate rolling processes such as cross - rolling and asynchronous rolling are adopted. Cross - rolling can change the rolling direction, making the orientation of grains more uniform, reducing anisotropy and improving the comprehensive performance of steel.
