The production process of 16Mnq hot-rolled bridge steel is a systematic engineering that strictly controls chemical composition, microstructure, and mechanical properties. It integrates multiple links such as steelmaking, slab casting, hot rolling, and inspection to ensure it meets the requirements of bridge construction for strength, toughness, weldability, and stability. The detailed production process is as follows:

1. Raw Material Preparation and Steelmaking

Core Objective: Precisely control the content of elements such as carbon (C) and manganese (Mn), remove harmful impurities like sulfur (S) and phosphorus (P), and ensure the purity of molten steel.

 

Raw Material Proportioning:
Hot metal (accounting for 70%-80%) is the main raw material, supplemented with scrap steel (20%-30%) to adjust composition. Hot metal undergoes pretreatment (e.g., desulfurization and dephosphorization) to reduce S content to ≤0.015% and P content to ≤0.020%, laying the foundation for subsequent refining.

 

 

 

 

Converter/EAF Smelting:

A top-bottom combined blown converter (more efficient) or electric arc furnace (EAF) is used. Oxygen blowing reduces carbon content to 0.12%-0.20% (the carbon range for 16Mnq).

In the late stage of blowing, alloys such as ferromanganese (Fe-Mn) and ferrosilicon (Fe-Si) are added to adjust Mn content to 1.20%-1.60% and Si content to 0.20%-0.60%, forming the basic composition system of 16Mnq.
