Key Characteristics

Pre-hardened state: Typically supplied in a pre-hardened condition (28-35 HRC), eliminating the need for post-machining heat treatment. This avoids dimensional changes caused by heat treatment, ensuring mold precision.

Mechanical properties: It has moderate tensile strength (approximately 850-1000 MPa) and yield strength (around 700-850 MPa), along with good toughness and wear resistance, which can withstand the repeated stress of mold clamping and ejection during production.

Machinability: Excellent for machining processes such as milling, turning, drilling, and grinding. The pre-hardened state allows for direct processing into mold cavities and cores with high dimensional accuracy.

Polishability: It can achieve a good surface finish (up to Ra 0.4-0.8 μm) after polishing, meeting the requirements for plastic parts with high surface quality (e.g., household appliances, automotive interior parts).

Weldability: Moderate weldability; proper preheating and post-weld tempering can reduce welding cracks, making it suitable for repairing mold damage or modifying mold structures.
