Low-carbon design: The carbon content is usually ≤0.18%, which reduces the risk of cold cracks during welding.

Microalloying: The addition of elements such as Nb, V, and Ti refines the grain, improving strength while enhancing the toughness of the HAZ.

 

Challenges

 

Softening of the heat-affected zone: High-temperature welding may cause grain coarsening in the HAZ, reducing local strength.

Cold crack sensitivity: During welding, the fusion zone and heat-affected zone may form martensite structure during rapid cooling, increasing the tendency of cracks.
